Alan Wallace: Obsessive Compulsive Delusional Disorder
B. Alan Wallace introduces the concept of Obsessive Compulsive Delusional Disorder, or Wallace Syndrome, as a way of describing our usual state of mind. Part 2 here.
I remember when I made the choice to have compulsive thoughts. I recognized that others thought I was ignorant unless I had something to say about what ever they were interested in, or something they were sharing with me. So, I chose to "turn on" the part of my brain that would observe their reactions to their interests so that I could respond in a fashion that they would recognize as I was awake and paying attention. Does anyone else remember a similar turning point?
